Driver steals N7m vehicle, sells it N700, 000



Police in Sokoto State have arrested a driver with a private firm in Sokoto, Gideon Joshua, over the theft of his boss’s Toyota Hilux worth about N7million.



The suspect was said to have taken the car to Illela, a local government that borders Niger Republic, where he allegedly sold it at N700,000.

Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, DSP Al-Mustapha Sani, confirmed the incident, saying the driver took the managing director of the company to the Sokoto Central Market, after which he left with the vehicle. He said it was the managing director that reported the matter to the police.

DSP Sani said the police recovered the vehicle in Niger Republic, where the suspect sold it at N700, 000 and bought a Gulf car for 450,000. He added that the driver and one Musa Namadi of Illela, who assisted him were arrested.

In a related development, the Public Relations Officer said that three suspects, Aliyu Musa, Usman Ibrahim and Sumaila Idris have been arrested for allegedly stealing a car belonging to one Muhammad Bashir.
